Getting Started: Now lets start off by telling you what you'll need to have to safely as possible hack your ps3. OK now that we got that out of the way, let get you started! All you have to do is click the "Get Started" link on the Right hand side. This guide is for educational purposes only and no files are hosted in this guide. I also want to say Ive made this guide as safe as possible and there have been zero report of bricks (aka you just F#$%ed your PS3) with this method, but as when comes to messing with the PS3 there is a very very slight chance you can do harm to your console. I will keep this thread updated with the newest info and links as I follow the scene very closely. well F#$% you! I'm including what I think is safe for your PS3 and will get you running "backups" and homebrew in no time, with little or no chance of hurting your console. Now that you have this, we recommend you setup FTP to enable you to transfer files back and forth from your computer to your console via the network.Welcome to the Dummies Guide to PS3 Hacking! Now if you have found yourself here, you probably already have gone through a ton of information and are no closer to understanding how to hack your PS3! This is the exact reason I made this Thread and guide, as the PS3 scene is so new that if you dont keep up on it everyday you'll have no clue whats going on! Now I know right now there's going to be people that say you didn't include this or you didn't include that. You should now have 4.89 CFW installed on your PS3.Now that the USB has 4.89 CFW, you need to plug it back into the console, and Update via Storage Media again. Drag the UPDATE folder into the PS3 folder, and accept overwrites. To do this, power off your console and remove the USB stick, and plug it into your computer. You should now be able to install custom firmware on your device. This should take around 10 minutes to complete. Once the console has loaded, head to Settings – > System Update -> Update via Storage Media -> Proceed Plug the USB into the PS3 console (off), and then turn it on.This folder contains the PS3 downgrade for 4.89 OFW to 3.55 OFW.
